Alfred Winchester Wakeman, age 80, died peacefully on February 3rd 2009 at the Solace Center in Asheville NC. Mr. Wakeman, a resident of Weaverville NC, was born in New Haven CT February 5, 1928. Son of the late Dr. Edward T. Wakeman and Katharine Winchester Wakeman, he graduated from The Putney School of VT, then briefly attended Yale (class of 1950) and received his degree from the Rhode Island School of Design (1951). He married and lived in Durham CT until 1931.

An industrial designer for the General Electric company, he received a special design award for his work. He went on to hold several patents for his own inventions and his work for other manufacturing companies. Mr. Wakeman won the 1987 Cruising World boat design competition for his “Offshore Camper.”

Originator of the unifying theory Energy Synthesis, his work on sustainable energy production is an attempt to reproduce energy as it is sustained in the natural world and to explain the workings of the universe. His work has been received by researchers and cutting edge thinkers in Sweden, Germany (where experiments have been conducted by Mr. Sten Linander), Canada, Hawaii and elsewhere.
